THE PROJECT

The Tunstead Village Hall & Recreation was formed in 1986 and is a sub-committee of Tunstead Parish Council.

The first 'shed'-like building arrived in 1987 and was later replaced with the first of our Portakabins.  Our current building arrived in 2001 but never quite lived up to its promise by being too high off the ground!

Since 2001, we've had various plans for brick built, lottery funded village halls.

Today, when grants are hard to come by, we've tailored our expectations to something more achievable!

Initially, after consultation, the village voted for a 'Modular' building that could be designed to our specifications, easily updated to meet changing building regulations and added to as funds allow.

However, as we've met with planners and architects, we've adjusted our design and we can achieve a brick and tile building that can be realistically funded in future and expanded as and when we can!  This is fabulous progress, led by Clive Rich who is driving us ahead.

WHAT'S GOING ON NOW....?

After lots of investigation and discussion with our Architect, Simon Pegg, the overall design of the proposed new village hall has been agreed!

We are currently finalising the plans to put forward for planning permission and are pleased to announce that to meet all current and possible legislation, our new building will be brick and tile design.
